Homemade personal gift basket

I haven't seen Daniel since my operation.. He's been down in Northampton. I was going to save this for Valentines day but seen as we've both had rubbish time lately but I won't go into why on the Internet.  My mum and brother chipped in for the Kindle before you think its way OTT but the gift basket and other little goodies i had bought a week or so ago! So i surprised Daniel with this last night and thought it would be a good idea to share..with you guys maybe for valentines or an anniversary / birthday treat for a friend or loved one :)

I used a wicker hamper basket I found at my mums. I ordered some east of India ribbon and my mum picked up some chocolate hearts from Tesco, they're cheap about a £1.00 for a pretty big bag. You can fill the basket with the persons favourite little bits and bobs!! Here's what I filled Daniel's basket with..

darwincoin
pugsandkissesf1giftbasket

A  special edition Darwin £2.00 coin as a little keepsake as he's a huge Darwin and evolution fan, a pug air freshener, a F1 magazine and duff beer bath goodies! These gift basket fillers can be as cheap or as expensive as you like its totally up to you so they fit all budgets.. I think it's all about the thought and presentation. Filling it with their favourite little goodies.. really personal to them!

gift basketoldus

As I said my family chipped in with the kindle I then bought some chocolates and a new Red Bull flavoured drink for him to try as he loves energy drinks. To top it off i popped in a 3 year old picture of us and wrote a little message on the back :) other filler ideas could include mini aftershaves or perfume, a DVD, cinema tickets, their favourite box of chocolates, photographs, a bottle of alcohol or a nice scented candle etc etc!

A -huge- thank you to all the lovely messages on my last post I'm doing a bit better each day! I have typed this all with one hand haha so tiring and long!! The nurse visits aren't as bad and tonight its a pick-up Nandos for tea mmmm what do you think of this gift idea?

  35. Glad to hear you're on the mend! This is a lovely gift, very original and personal! Unfortunately, in true Bridget Jones style I will be spending valentines alone in the company of my cat and a bar of Cadbury's Oreo, but if I did have a significant other, I would be definitely doing a similar idea :) Hope he likes it, I'm sure he will! <3

  41. This is such a lovely idea - it's so thoughtful and special! For Christmas last year for my boyfriend, I bought a cheap tool box and put screws and nails in the transparent lid and then filled it with sweets and chocolate (he has a major sweet tooth!) his face was a picture when he thought I'd bought him tools for Christmas!

Hope you start to feel better soon! Nandos sounds like an excellent remedy! Sending happy thoughts and get well wishes your way!

  48. Oh, thank you soo much for this post, I think I'll do this for my boyfriend! He's a nightmare to buy for but a collection of little things would be perfect! I'm thinking some magazines, chocolate and some tickets to a film or something, and defintiely a photo of us with a little note, as he's leaving to go to Seattle for a month next week and I'm going to miss him like crazy, so for him to have a little photo would be nice :)

Get well soon xx Laura - Black & Gold
